What is a Psychosocial Recovery Coach?

A psychosocial recovery coach is a new NDIS service designed to support individuals with a psychosocial disability to take more control of their lives and to better manage the complex challenges of day-to-day living.

Who can be a Psychosocial Recovery Coach ?

A recovery coach may be someone with a qualification in Mental Health or Mental Health Peer work. Someone with learned experience and knowledge in supporting someone with a psychosocial disability and with mental health challenges.

What does a Psychosocial Recovery Coach do?

  • Develop a recovery-enabling relationship
  • Increase awareness of choice and control
  • Identify individual goals and develop strategies to achieve them
  • Provide ongoing support and engagement (even in times of increased needs due to variation in individual mental illness)
  • Build individual capacity, increase recovery skills, resilience and decision making.
